Saving for Compassion

A commitment between God, a ministry partner and a beneficiary was united in prayer and faith. None knew how Passion Savings would work out but God just kept on reminding to respond to the sense of urgency He is calling us to obey by heart.

It all started with a desire.

The prayer was just to help a friend get back to school. From there, who would know that God would allow to share the burden to different individuals in order to raise support to finance the man’s collegiate schooling?

And the desire grew as hearts were purified and faith was tested. The support was extended to a missionary whose very goal is to land the Gospel to students who fail to recognize Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior local and abroad.

It’s really amazing how God grants prayers and makes them far greater than what we ask for. He is indeed the God of miracles! Nothing is too hard for Him.

And His vision was pursued. During the month of May, the ministry grew inch by inch as people from various status in life and beliefs responded to be a part of the miracle.

Everything was eagerly soaked into prayer. From the people to share, the Passion Cans to distribute, the place to meet, the savings account to use, to every ministry partner to bless and people to support.

God was just revealing Himself vividly as days grew in numbers and answered prayers were left and right.

The first nine Passion Cans were released in a span of a week. And testimonies from every ministry partner were indeed overflowing with grace and faith. To date, a total of thirty Passion Can holders are hand in hand in this journey as each fix their eyes to Jesus Christ as the author and finisher of faith, the great Provider and the merciful Lord and Savior.

Passion Savings does not only desire to bridge borders in helping the financially challenged out of school youth but also aims to support the biblical teaching of good financial stewardship.

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

-Matthew 6:19-21

The ministry believes that investment is at its finest when we learn to invest in God’s Kingdom more than anything else. We are reminded in Matthew 6:19-21 that the things that we treasure reflects the contents, desires and values of our heart.

In the same way, we encourage people to invest mostly on God, and not on things that rust.

The Passion Can, in its simplest explanation, is likened to a piggy bank that reminds us of saving up. As far as our young knowledge is concern, it upholds an in depth message that each cent can really add up to something more glorious like sending a student to school and supporting a missionary, in our case.

This time, the savings we give up in the cans do not go into our pockets. We invest it to God. Giving, then, becomes a greater and a more grace-filled experience when we develop our gift to share despite our daily circumstances, personal issues and hardships. Giving, in its best essence, becomes an opportunity for us to be a part of someone else’s miracle.

At present, we release cans to individuals, also called ministry partners, who are willing to invest and save for God’s mission. After three months upon receipt, these cans are opened, counted and deposited. The challenge repeats as another batch of Passion Cans are given.

The prayer that started with a desire elevates as this vision is not limited to the two beneficiaries. We are praying for God to see us through so we may reach and help the least of these with their education and needs. We are called by God to love Him through them.

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

-Matthew 25:40

We never underestimate the willingness of a person to be part of miracles. We are praying for more ministry partners and volunteers to walk with us in this ministry.

Let His love be revealed through us. Let our love for Him be shown.

May we desire. I thank my friends from my work and from najlepszy hosting whom I met through a common cause. I hope we all can save to help other people through your work.
