The operation of an iPod dock is quite simple; you just place the iPod into the designated connector. The Kicker IK500 has superior sound quality to other iPod docking stations; the sound is crystal clear no matter what genre of music you are playing. This unit sounds especially good while playing Jazz tunes from my favorite artists such as Norah Jones, and if coffee house rock is your thing then you will adore the contemporary appearance of this unit.
The unit weight is 9.2lbs, which is considerably lighter then most docking stations. The IK500 comes in a piano black color scheme, and it has a small blue LCD screen to display the current tunes. The LCD screen is very easy to read, and setup of the unit is a breeze. This unit will support every model iPod except for the current and previous iPod Shuffle models. The IK500 comes with a super thin remote control, which allows you to power off/on the unit, change music, adjust volume, and change iPod settings.
The remote is extremely sexy, but at the same time I wouldn’t recommend leaving this small sexy remote around kids or the dog. The controls on the unit are a single twisting knob, this can be used to adjust volume, and tune the unit on/off. The Kicker is very unique when compared to comparable models in this price range, the IK500 has a sleek sexy look that’s not found in your average docking station. So, if you are trying to dress up a dorm I highly recommend this docking station.
College aside, this is one serious docking station. The sound quality is extraordinary, the compatibility is excellent, and the appearance is bar none the sexiest docking station you’ll ever use. The IK500 also features an auxiliary input which can be used to connect other audio devices, and an RCA port which can be used to connect a stereo system with relative ease.
